Back at Big Arm
It had been over a year since we last held an event at Big Arm State Park, a lovely, though small, area on the shores of Flathead Lake. The event, on a nice September day, attracted a mix of folks from Missoula and the Kalispell/Whitefish area. Harvey Goldstein and Steve Varro put out controls, and Andy and Nicole Kucera took care of directing the event.

On the Beginner course, Inara Granovskiy was fastest, just 3 minutes ahead of a large group of kiddos from the Stegmaier, McLeod, Fairchild, and Miner families. Kelli Fry was the quickest on Advanced Beginner, while second-time orienteer Griffin Kinch won the Intermediate course. On Advanced, Boris Granovskiy was fastest, while places 2-5 were separated by just two minutes. US Junior Team members Ben Conley and Ben Brady just managed to snag the 2nd and 3rd places ahead of up-and-comer Liam Browne and quickly improving Chris Caldwell.

Thank you to our event directors Nicole and Andy Kucera, to course setters Harvey and Steve, and to all the folks who helped with setup and pickup, including Beau Larkin, Kate DeBlonk, and Liam and Euell Browne. Up next is Pattee Canyon on September 22!
