Lion Mountain

We had a gorgeous day of orienteering at Lion Mountain with 33 competitors across a range of courses. On the Advanced course, US National Team member Ben Conley took a narrow victory over top ultra-runner, and relative newcomer to orienteering, Seth King. There was a close duel on Advanced Beginner too, where Kathleen Dent finished just 17 seconds ahead of Ruth Anderson.

We apologize to participants who were affected by the incorrect control codes on two of the flags. Please reach out to us if you were affected, and you will be eligible for free entry to a GrizO event of your choice. We appreciate everyone's positive and supportive attitudes during the event and hope everyone had a great time.

This event was brought to you by the Browne Family. Liam set the courses with help from Euell, while their mom Kara was the event director and handled all the logistics.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Haley King of Whitefish Legacy Partners (WLP) and her partner, Seth. Not only were they at the event all day and helped pick up controls, but they did this on their 5th anniversary! Thanks also to WLP as our partner in hosting this event.

Kathleen Dent and Euell Browne offered beginner instruction.
Ruth Anderson transported all the event supplies back to Missoula.

Up next is Lubrecht - already coming up this Saturday, May 9!
The next Flathead event will be on June 6 on the brand-new map of Harrell Forest! Stay tuned for more info.
