Lubrecht Experimental Forest

On a day when we considered cancelling the event due to the smoky conditions and poor air quality all around Missoula, Lubrecht Experimental Forest came through with some decent air and even an occasional bit of sunshine peeking through.

We had 37 competitors go out on four different courses, including a good mix of first-timers and GrizO regulars. Some close battles took place on a number of the courses. On the Beginner course, Sara Oestrich and Brad Tuttle, visiting all the way from Fairbanks, Alaska, pulled out a win by just over a minute ahead of Inara Granovskiy.

On the advanced course, Will Dickinson, who heads up GrizO's northern chapter in Kalispell, held off a speedy Greg Friedman by just over three minutes. For Greg, an accomplished ultra-runner, this was the second of the three (!) courses he completed on the day, along with the Advanced Beginner and Intermediate courses.

Thanks to our awesome group of volunteers for making this event possible: Garth Flint, Allie Ferguson, Greg Friedman, Rex Winterbottom, Will Dickinson, Eric Jones, Isaac Jones, and Beth Jones.

You can see the split times from the day here, and full results will be up on the website shortly.

All the courses can be seen here.

Up next, the GrizO Summer Series will head north to Kalispell for an August 15th event at Lone Pine State Park.

In the meantime, look out for some GrizO competitors at US Nationals near Lake Tahoe in Nevada/California in early August.
