Blue Mountain

Our second event took place at Blue Mountain Recreation Area on a cold and sunny day with 8-10 inches of snow on the ground and temperatures topping out at 20F. We considered canceling the event in the days leading up to it, but hearty Missoulians showed no signs of fearing the cold, and so we held the event as planned.

We had a great turnout of 25 orienteers, including 14 beginners, who braved the elements and navigated around Blue Mountain's lovely forests, meadows, and hillsides.

Grizzly Orienteering would like to thank all the volunteers for making the first event a success! We had an amazing crew of helpers: Darrell Brown and MaryBeth Rothwell helped make the promotional materials, printed all the maps, helped set up the event, and worked at the start, finish, and registration; Alden Wright of the Rocky Mountaineers helped with publicity; Greg Ahlswede made the base map; and Jacki McCoy delivered lunch to the cold and hungry organizers in the middle of the event.
