Ski Orienteering at Lubrecht Experimental Forest

Lubrecht Experimental Forest was the site of GrizO's - and Montana's - first-ever ski orienteering event. We were thrilled with the turnout, as over 60 participants tried one of the four available courses. There were some great performances on the day, as well as some close competition. On the long course, Siri Christopherson of Bozeman edged her sister Tyra for the win by just over a minute, while Hannah Specht took 3rd place overall. Women owned the entire podium on the long course!

Thanks to all who participated, our great team of volunteers, and a special shout-out to the Missoula Nordic Ski Club and its team of groomers for the work they put in to make skiing possible and enjoyable. Not to mention that groomer extraordinaire Steve Gaskill stayed around and picked up all the controls!

Event volunteers included Randy Tanner, Garth Flint, Loy Koch, and many others who pitched in to help with event setup and take-down.

Results are below. You can see the split times here.

You can see all the courses (and some of the route choices) here. If you have a GPS track from your race, please add it  at the link above!

Thanks for your support, Alpine Physical Therapy and Blackfoot Communications!

Finally, thanks to Lubrecht Forest for letting us hold the event and use the rec. center for snacks and beginner instruction.
